The Callaway Apex Pro Series '24 irons.

JUMP TO: Apex Pro | Apex MB | Apex CB | Apex UT

Callaway’s Apex irons introduced golfers to a forged players’ distance model for the first time back in 2014 and instantly became one of the best golf irons.

Those original models were game-changers, opening up a whole new market as Callaway cleverly pitched them as delivering extra ball speed and distance to golfers who sat right on the fence between better player and game improver irons. Golfers lapped them up, and they were so successful that Apex went down as one of the best Callaway irons ever as they took the players’ distance irons category by storm.

From 2014 to 2021, Callaway always released just two Apex models (standard and Pro), which they said were enough to cater for most forged iron buyers. But the market changed dramatically in 2020 when other brands started creating three, four or even five-model forged iron families, all of which could be mixed to create an individual’s perfect set.

Callaway’s 2021 Apex irons family saw them release five irons – Apex 21, Apex Pro 21, Apex MB, Apex DCB and Apex TCB – with models for everyone from the likes of Jon Rahm to a higher-handicap club golfer.

But the ’24 iteration includes four Apex irons – Pro, CB, MB, and UT – with the aim of bringing game-changing performance to Tour and elite players. Callaway say the new clubs are ‘held to the highest standard’ and the brand have worked closely with their Tour staff to create every aspect of the new clubs.

Pro offers distance and precision, with CB targeting shotmakers who want pure feel and workability. MB is for the best players who want a high level of performance in a modern Tour blade, and UT is a powerful, versatile model for those seeking precision.

All Pro Series irons feature the same MIM back weight to give fitters more control to dial in swing weight and mix and match the family to create your perfect set.

All four models are available for pre-order from August 18 and at retail from September 8, and cost from £217 ($215) per club, making them more expensive than their predecessors.

Let’s take a closer look at each of the irons, the tech, and how they differ.

Callaway say the new hollow-bodied Apex Pro is designed for exceptional distance with Tour-level precision in a total-performance players iron.

They have used an innovative new multi-material forged construction and paired it with their patented urethane microspheres to deliver superb feel.

A progressive face design promotes powerful long irons and more precise short irons, and a Dynamic Sole Design promotes improved turf interaction and better contact.

Advanced Forged Performance

For the first me ever in an Apex iron, a hollow body construction pairs a forged face with a forged 1025 carbon steel body to deliver a premium, ultra-so feel. Callaway’s patented urethane microspheres also work to dampen sound and improve feel while still allowing the face to flex for high ball speeds across the face.

New Progressive Face Design for Incredible Distance with Added Control

The Apex Pro ’24 irons feature a progressive face design to give players powerful long irons and more precise short irons. The long irons are designed with a powerful Forged 455 face cup to enhance distance and forgiveness. The short irons feature an ultra-consistent forged 1025 face plate engineered to give you control with your scoring clubs.

Dynamic Sole Design for Enhanced Turf Interaction

The new Apex Pro ’24 irons feature a Dynamic Sole Design with a pre-worn leading edge to cut through the turf more efficiently and trailing edge relief to ensure a clean exit. The result is an iron sole that maintains speed through the turf and promotes consistent contact on all shots.

Endless Combo Set Possibilities

From loft packages to sole geometries and shapes, the Apex Pro irons can be combined in any fashion with the other Pro Series models to meet a player’s specific needs.

RRP: £217 / $215 per clubAvailability: 3-AW (Custom-fit only)7-iron loft: 34ºLeft-handed?: No

Inspired by the Apex TCB, the Apex CB iron is a Tour-cavity back that has been designed for discerning pros and elite ball strikers using an all-new forged construction for a pure feel, precise shot-making, and workability.

Callaway say it is the ultimate tour iron. They’ve worked closely with their Tour players to completely revolutionize the new Apex Pro series to enhance performance for them and you.

It combines a classic tour shape with modern design features. It also features a thinner topline and longer blade lengths than its predecessor that seamlessly blend with the other Pro Series models. All Pro Series irons feature the same MIM back weight to give fitters more control to dial in swing weight.

Pure Forged Performance

The Apex CB ’24 irons are forged in a 5-step process from 1025 carbon steel, creating the buttery-so feel discerning players crave. The body and face are forged as one piece while MIM weights placed strategically in the toe create a perfectly balanced design for enhanced workability and control.

Progressive CG Design for Added Control A progressive CG throughout the set improves trajectory control. The long irons feature a lower CG that promotes towering shots that land so into greens while the short irons utilize a higher CG for a lower trajectory to promote more spin for added control.

Dynamic Sole Design for Enhanced Turf Interaction
